Serpify
Competitor Analysis

Compare the competitors you actually meet in search.

Serpify reads your competitors’ positions from the same Google results pages it checks for your tracked keywords, so every comparison is like for like. When you want to look further, keyword gap and competitor discovery show you what to track next.

  • Up to 10 competitors per project
  • Same results pages as your rankings

  • Send keywords to Rank Tracker

How it works

Two sources, kept separate.

Comparing competitors on the keywords you track and researching new keywords are different jobs. Serpify uses different data for each and tells you which one you are looking at.

Tracked competitors

From the same Google SERPs Serpify already checks for your tracked keywords.

Head to head

Like for like, on the keywords you track.

Every competitor is measured on the same keywords, from the same results pages and the same check as your own site. The comparison shows the latest daily check, and its date is shown beside it.

Share of voice
Your visibility and each competitor’s, side by side, from the latest check on the same tracked keywords.
No research credits
Competitor positions come with your daily rank checks, so the comparison costs nothing extra.

SERP context

See your competitors on the results page itself.

Open any tracked keyword to see the Google results page from a check, with your site and your competitors labelled. The numbers in the comparison come from these pages.

You and your competitors, labelled
Each result shows its position and ranking URL, with your site and your competitors marked.
Movement since the previous snapshot
Every result shows how far it moved since the check before, and new entries are flagged.
The last 60 snapshots
Pick any of the last 60 stored results pages for the keyword and see who ranked where on that date.

AI Overview citations

Know when an AI Overview cites them and not you.

Serpify records which sources each Google AI Overview cites on your tracked keywords, so you can see where competitors are cited alongside you or instead of you.

Citations, head to head
The comparison counts the tracked keywords whose AI Overview cites each competitor, next to your own count.
Most cited domains
The domains AI Overviews cite most across your keywords, with your competitors labelled.
Competitor newly cited
An alert after the daily check when a competitor is newly cited in an AI Overview where your site is not. By email, Slack or webhook.

Keyword gap

Find the keywords one competitor ranks for and you don’t.

Choose a competitor you have added. Serpify returns keywords where that domain ranks in Google’s top 20 organic results and yours does not, ready to filter, compare and track.

  • One competitor at a time

Pick any competitor in the project. Results include their position for each keyword, up to the top 20.

  • Up to 500 keywords

Sorted by Opportunity score, with search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC, intent, SERP features and AI Overview presence.

  • Filter and sort

Include or exclude words, set a minimum volume or maximum difficulty, filter by intent or AI Overview, and sort any column.

  • Select and track

Select the keywords worth chasing and send them to Rank Tracker in the same project.

  • One research credit

Each gap lookup uses one research credit from your plan’s monthly allowance.

  • From DataForSEO Labs

Gap results are research data, not your tracked results pages, so they reach beyond the keywords you already track.

Competitor discovery

Find the domains competing with yours.

Not sure who to compare against? Look up the domains that rank for keywords similar to yours, then add the ones that matter to the project.

Up to 20 domains
Each with the number of keywords it shares with you and its average position. Your domain and existing competitors are left out.
Add with one click
Add a domain as a competitor straight from the results. Its positions appear after the next daily check.
One research credit
Discovery uses DataForSEO Labs data and one research credit per lookup.

From gap to tracking

Research decides what to track. Tracking shows how you compare.

Gap and discovery results never start tracking on their own. You choose what to add, and from then on those keywords are checked daily with your competitors beside you.

FAQ

Competitor Analysis, answered.

How does Serpify track competitors?
Add a competitor’s domain to a project. Each time Serpify checks your tracked keywords in Google, it also records where that domain appears on the same results pages: its position, its ranking URL and whether a Google AI Overview cites it. Tracked comparison does not use research credits.
How many competitors can I add?
Up to 10 per project. Add them by domain or from competitor discovery. Subdomains count toward the competitor’s domain, and you can’t add your own domain as a competitor.
Is competitor comparison historical?
No. The head-to-head comparison and share of voice show the latest daily check, and its date is shown with them. For a single keyword, you can open any of the last 60 stored results pages and see who ranked where. A newly added competitor appears from the next check; earlier checks are not filled in.
What does “Outranks you” mean?
The number of your tracked keywords where the competitor ranked ahead of you at the latest check, including keywords where the competitor ranked and you did not.
How does keyword gap work?
Choose one competitor you have added. Serpify finds keywords where that domain ranks in Google’s organic results and yours does not, keeps the ones where the competitor is in the top 20, and returns up to 500 with search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC, intent, SERP features, AI Overview presence and Opportunity score. You can filter, sort and select them.
How does competitor discovery work?
Serpify looks up to 20 domains that rank for keywords similar to yours and shows how many keywords each shares with you and its average position. Your own domain and competitors you have already added are left out. Add any of them to the project with one click.
Does competitor research use credits?
Keyword gap and competitor discovery use one research credit per lookup from your plan’s monthly allowance. The head-to-head comparison, share of voice, SERP context and AI Overview citations come with your rank checks and use no research credits.
Can I track gap keywords afterward?
Yes. Select keywords in the gap results and send them to Rank Tracker, choosing desktop, mobile or both. Nothing is added automatically. Once tracked, they are checked daily and your competitors’ positions are recorded for them from the next check.
Does Serpify alert me about competitor changes?
There is one competitor alert: when a competitor is newly cited in a Google AI Overview for one of your tracked keywords and your site is not cited. It is checked after each daily check and sent by email, Slack or webhook. Other alerts cover your own rankings, not competitors’.
Where does competitor data come from?
The comparison, share of voice, SERP context and AI Overview citations come from the same Google results pages Serpify checks for your tracked keywords. Keyword gap and competitor discovery use DataForSEO Labs data, not your tracked results pages.

See who you are really up against.

Add your competitors to a project and compare on the keywords you track, then find the keywords worth tracking next.
